MABLE 2.0 — SaaS Analytics
Restructuring complex data into clear narrative flows to improve activation and cross-functional decision making.
CONTEXT
Mable is an analytics-heavy SaaS platform.
The existing product contained strong data but weak clarity.
Users interacted with dashboards but struggled to derive insight.
I was brought in to redesign the system end-to-end.
DISCOVERY & INSIGHTS
Conducted:
• Stakeholder interviews
• Customer usability sessions
• Feature gap analysis
Key findings:
1. Data density exceeded cognitive bandwidth.
Information was unstructured, leading to analysis paralysis.
2. Insights were not hierarchically structured.
Critical metrics were buried beneath secondary data points.
3. Error states lacked clarity.
When data failed to load, users were left without context or recovery options.
Users did not need more data.
They needed better narrative flow.
REFRAMING THE PROBLEM
Initial assumption:
The dashboards just needed a visual refresh and better charts.
Post-discovery reframing:
How might we restructure the information architecture so that data visualizations guide users through a clear operational narrative?
PRODUCT STRATEGY
Redesign goals:
• Simplify IA
• Introduce modular dashboard architecture
• Improve onboarding clarity
• Align billing and usage flows
• Strengthen data visual hierarchy
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
Implemented:
• Clear data grouping
• Progressive disclosure
• Consistent filter logic
• Structured visual patterns for analytics
Dashboards were reorganised around decision workflows, not feature sets.
SYSTEMS & IMPLEMENTATION
Built scalable atomic design system.
Outcomes:
• ~30% improvement in development velocity
• Reduced design-to-dev ambiguity
• Structured component governance
LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION
Guided the engineering team on implementing the new design system while establishing clear component governance policies. Mentored internal stakeholders on viewing data through a UX narrative lens rather than a pure database dump approach.
OUTCOMES
• ~12% activation uplift
• Improved retention signals
• Improved cross-functional collaboration
REFLECTION
Analytics design is about narrative structure.
Data without hierarchy becomes noise.
